Whether you hike the trails, fish the waters, or rent a canoe, Griffy Lake is a great way to get back to nature just minutes from the bustling university town of Bloomington, Indiana!

Griffy Lake was built as a reservoir in the 1920s to supply the local area, including the town of Bloomington, with a reliable water supply. After decades of service, Griffy Lake was retired and Lake Lemon, followed by Lake Monroe became the main water source for the local populace. Today Griffy Lake covers 109 acres and is part of a 1,200 acre nature preserve.

WanderFull recommends packing a picnic lunch from Bloomingfoods ( https://www.bloomingfoods.coop/) in Bloomington.
Remember, leave only footprints, take only pictures!

Note of Warning: Swimming is prohibited in Griffy Lake.
